Spice Island Beach Resort Grenada – Inspired by Grenada’s exotic nature

Idyllically located on the beautiful white sand two-mile/three kilometres Grand Anse beach on Grenada’s southwest coast, Spice Island Beach Resort is the perfect choice if you’re looking for an intimate but luxurious experience on your next Grenada getaway. They have service down to a tee from the moment you check in until the moment you leave. Starting with a refreshing cocktail to cool you down upon arrival while taking in the beautiful hues of the Caribbean Sea a few steps away will set the tone for what is to come. Arriving at Spice Island Beach Resort makes you feel like coming home. The very attentive guest relations team was eagerly waiting for me to ensure my arrival was smooth and welcoming. After the refreshing cocktail, I was shown to my Royal Suite and briefed on the amenities, the spa, the yoga, the restaurant and given a smartphone for easy connection to their guest services for any needs or desires that I may have.

My suite was a Royal Collection Pool Suite, with its own living room, dining area, pool and sauna. The champagne and daily fruit and macaroon platter were perfect, and I loved the Grenada certified organic spice collection from Belmont Estate.

I was gifted a complimentary spa therapy, and I eagerly booked a signature treatment for the following day. The award-winning Janissa Spa offers a varied selection of amazing treatments in a calm and serene environment and a unique exotic herbal tea menu to enjoy after your treatment. Needless to say, the Janissa Signature Body Wrap was excellent, and the open-air rain shower to finish was divine.

I love walking in the early hours of the morning, and Spice Island Beach resort could not be better positioned. A few steps from my room and I was on the beautiful Grand Anse beach with miles of white sand beach ahead of me. No shoes were needed as I wanted to feel and take advantage of the healing powers of the Caribbean Sea. I was not the only one enjoying the beach at this early hour; along the shoreline were small groups of people enjoying the natural health benefits of Thalassotherapy. The beauty of island living.

You can’t miss the yoga pavilion! It is beautifully built and perfectly positioned to allow the blue hues of the ocean, the soothing breeze and open view to carefully stimulate your senses. The resort’s beachside yoga offers different classes, including Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin yoga and if you desire a private couple’s class, you just have to book it.

And should yoga not be your thing, the hotel also offers a multitude of non-motorized water sports such as kayak, paddle board, snorkelling, Hobie Cats and a PADI diving centre a stone’s throw away.

Elegantly casual is the perfect attire for Oliver’s, one of the best restaurants in Grenada. Oliver’s kitchen features a fusion of international cuisine, local ingredients and Caribbean and Creole flavours. The menu options vary daily, but as a suggestion, I was delighted with the oven-baked butternut squash and goat cheese tart with saffron-infused cauliflower puree and red onion marmalade as a starter, followed by grilled barracuda with baby spinach and christophene salad. The roasted breast of hen with pistachio-cumin mousse and herb potato cake, followed by Spice Temptation, a mango cheesecake with guava spring roll, was equally delicious. The menu is small but interesting, and the service impeccable. It is no surprise that the resort has gained the coveted AAA Five Diamond designation.

And not only that, Spice Island Resort cares deeply about the environment. Its Green Globe certified programme includes overall energy conservation, environmentally friendly cleaning products, recycling, desalination plant, sourcing of produce from local farms, biodegradable drinking straws, natural composting and salt chlorine generated swimming pools.

The Spice Island Beach Resort has everything going for it, and so has Grenada. It is well worth placing them both on your bucket list. Happy travels!
